If you would like to reduce the number of unsolicited national telemarketing calls that you receive at home, you may register with Telephone Preference Service by filling out and mailing the attached letter. There is no charge for the registration. Telephone Preference Service offers this free service for the sole purpose of removing your name, address and home telephone number from the calling lists of national telemarketing companies. Your information will remain registered with Telephone Preference Service for a period of five years.
Telephone Preference Service is used by some national telemarketing companies to purge their calling lists and to eliminate the names of consumers who do not want to receive unsolicited telephone calls. However, not all telemarketing companies use this service. Local businesses and organizations usually do not use Telephone Preference Service. Also, you may continue to receive calls from companies with which you already do business.
In the event that you receive a telemarketing call and you are not interested in doing business with the company, you should ask the caller to be placed on the company's do-not-call list and request that your name be removed from the company's telemarketing files.
